简介

CELLARSCAPE is singer, drummer & guitarist Paul Terry’s alt-acoustic moniker that he has been writing, recording and performing under since 2003. Fusing haunting vocals with angular drumming, fragile but anthemic guitars, plus, hypnotic orchestrations, Cellarscape songs bristle with an undeniably cinematic presence... ... So it comes as no surprise that Paul has a burgeoning sideline in film soundtracks. These include the recent award-winning horror-comedy 'The Furred Man' (2010) – currently experiencing high praise in several international film festivals; the acclaimed 2006 feature 'The Wake'; the forthcoming 'Queen of Hearts', and the award-winning 2001 short, 'Mightier'. The world-renowned Empire Film Awards also used Paul's film music for their 2009 promo campaign. Back in 2006, Cellarscape’s first release was the ‘Copilot’ EP [“...songs of desolation that echo with mood and meaning...” – County Times]. Then, 2007’s progressive ‘Fifth Phoenix’ EP followed. From the intense ‘A Brief Time Of Bullets’, to the yearning harmonies of ‘Kerosene’ and doomy loops of ‘Transition Sickness’, Rockworld TV described Cellarscape as “truly a force to be reckoned with.” Current album ‘Animation, Suspension’ sees Cellarscape go stratospheric. After the deceptively blissed-out intro of ‘Crawlspace’, this eclectic album’s high gear kicks in with the triumphant ‘Target Acquired’. The sinister stylings of ‘The Creek’ and schizophrenic ‘You Got The Girl’ highlight Cellarscape’s love of tonal changes, all the while keeping the music’s core emotionally-charged. With the grinding punch of ‘Bled Out’, the dark and punishing ‘Treading Water’ through to vocal-only ‘December Moon’ and insanely catchy battle-cry pop of ‘Minor Fractures’, 'Animation, Suspension' commands your attention throughout its 15 unpredictable tracks – something that has garnered glittering critical acclaim from press around the world, including: “Impeccable songwriting. A symphony for today's music lover.” (Australia’s Awesome Radio); “A diverse range of soundscapes creating a palette of aural delight.” (Big Cheese Magazine); “You’ll think you’ve listened to Cellarscape all your life... 15 perfect tracks.” (Radio Sonar); “Crushing. Absorbing. Gentle. Uplifting. Relentless. Awesome.” (BBC Radio); “Remarkably varied... songs that could’ve been composed by Metallica or Tears for Fears only increases its wonder.” (Daily Music Guide). With a new EP, ‘A Theta/Delta Union’ planned for late 2010 / early 2011, and the next full-length Cellarscape record also due out later in 2011 – plus, the soundtrack for ‘Queen of Hearts’, and the debut of Paul’s atmosphere-core heavy project, Ash Tree Lane – it’s business as usual, with Paul Terry’s music staying as eclectic as ever.
