Katie McGhie was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, the infamous suburb of Los Angeles. At the age of 3, her grandmother encouraged Katie’s mother to put her into piano lessons introducing her to music at a very young age. Because of her parents’ love for music, she was raised on artists spanning all genres from John Denver to The Rolling Stones; The Beach Boys to Michael Jackson; Queen to Frank Sinatra; The Beatles to Celine Dion. Just after she turned eight years old, Katie began performing with a local musical theatre company where she would go on to work, perform and tour with the company for over fourteen years, while teaching and directing thousands of children and adults, doing over fifty performances a year and more than forty productions throughout Southern California. Katie attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in Hollywood where she studied Musical Theatre. She also received her BFA in Musical Theatre from the New School, New York. After graduating, Katie began doing various musical productions around Southern California. In 2009, she met renowned music producer, Mark Vogel (Spectra Records) and within a week, Katie was in the studio recording new music for the CW. Shortly after, she and Mark began writing her self-titled, debut EP, an anthem driven, girl power, pop album. Katie became a regular in the LA music scene, regularly playing iconic venues like The House of Blues, The Roxy and more. In 2012, Katie was introduced to Graham Russell of the famed love-song-writing duo, Air Supply. A month later, they began writing their own album as a duo. They are now known as Of Eden. They released their acoustic inspired album, Feel, in 2013 and toured the US stopping in major cities like LA, New York, Nashville and Chicago. Later that year Katie and Graham were approached to write the music for a new, musical adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island. In the summer of 2015, the musical ran off-Broadway to rave reviews (originally titled “Devil And The Deep”). They continue to work on the musical and will be collaborating with writers Craig Clyde and Sam Goldstein on another new musical later this year. For the last couple of years, Katie has been writing for and collaborating with other artists continuing to work across all genres. In April of 2017, she won Best Original Song at the 8th Annual Indie Series Awards for her single I Can’t Make You Love Me, featured in the award-winning web series, “#Adulting”. Later that spring, she and producer Joel Pack (formerly of Maverick Records) began writing her third studio album, Paper Heart, a folk/pop, lyrically-driven, personal look into Katie’s life, set to be released later this fall. In addition to her own artist project, she and Graham will also be releasing their second album, Astral Love, in the fall as well. In 2018, Katie plans to launch her own business to expand her audience and share the music she loves with the next generation. With a new, original song added to Katie’s catalog each and every day, there’s no shortage of what’s to come for this artist.
