简介
This is a new breed of guitar-centric, instrumental metal formed from the coalescence of Progressive Metal and Metalcore. Requiem For The Hopeless is the first release from the project Then Tragedy Struck. The music cannot be identified with a single genre but it formed when the genres of progressive metal and metalcore were mixed. The music contains the complex intricacies of the former genre like odd time and nonstandard song structure and fuses them with the heavy yet melodic stylings of the latter. This ability to flow from genre to genre is partially due to the lack of vocals, which can at times, strongly limit the genre of music. The result is the creation of a new genre that retains the heaviness metalcore fans are drawn to yet is complex, which appeals to fans of progressive music. So far, this project only has one member, a 15 year old guitarist named Mark Mossberg who has an uncontrollable desire to write music heavy, instrumental music that is more complex than what is popular in music today. He is the one who writes and arranges the music, records the guitars and bass, programs the drums (and occasionally synth), and produces the album as a whole. All in his bedroom. The quality of the sound may impress you given the lack of a professional recording and producing environment and the young age of the producer. As a final thought, if you like music that is heavy, melodic, intense, mellow, and hard to tap your foot to all in one short EP, then you will like what is on Requiem For The Hopeless and will not regret buying it.
