Happy Schnapps Combo专辑介绍:by Dave SlegerThis 1999 release would prove to be the final album from this zany quintet from Wisconsin. Again, it's the booze that does the talking (and singing) here. Perhaps after nine years and five albums of singing almost exclusively of the various scenarios involving over-drinking finally took its toll on this band. They actually have a few great tunes on each album but the inanity and unrefined nature of their lyrics tends to detract from the musical talent that periodically surfaces. On Beer Muscle the Happy Schnapps Combohave adopted a more noticeable country flavor than on their earlier releases. After unapologetic joke covers of "You Really Got Me" and "Born to be Wild" from their first two albums they offer a surprisingly credible rendition of "Hey Joe." And the engaging polka meets country sound of "Start Suckin" has the potential of being another frat house or summer festival anthem. The album concludes with a sizzling rendering of the "Star Spangled Banner" which recalls Jimi Hendrix's definitive version but played with a smirk - the one thing that the Happy Schnapps Combo excel in.
