Liner Notes: Tone Poem VII: 3rd Eye Continuum: My idea of the 3rd eye continuum has a few parts that have to work together to create vision. Individual vision and approaches to all things…you can’t have just what s in front of you as the only way of seeing things. I have eye problems that created another way of saying things and interpreting things. Years of study and application has led me to see things different. not one is more important to the whole. So many examples try to express the unnecessary need for a good education to create. This is wrong, because limitations come from lack of information and material to draw conclusions from. the more info you know about the more you can apply…thus developing a long standing time of disciplined development…I call the 3rd eye continuum, mixing vision, the mind, and instinctive spiritual connection… For instance, when I was diagnosed with Glaucoma, I had lost most of the vision in my right eye. My doctor who is most professional started to cry…his emotions took over naturally from his cognitive mind…at that point in my life, I was the virtuoso phenom as in college, but I had developed more of my artistic identity for the years of training and classical playing. Now years later as I begin to explore performing with an understanding of recording, my performance interpretation is totally different then as a 26 year old virtuoso…technique, artistic exploration and sensibility, and experience with intuition, has made me who this project is today… patience and allow the music to take it’s own direction leads me to be very thankful for the gift from God…to you! This CD, TONE POEM VI: 3RD EYE CONTINUUM, is dedicated in loving memory of my very good friend, Fredrick Dennis Greene, who co-founded the vision of Sha, Na,Na, the Rock & Roll group that gave variety to television in the 70's. His friendship, inspired me from college to this present day, as Owner of Tone East Music LLC and as a Fulbright Scholar on assignment to Novi Sad, Serbia. So happy we had a chance to 'hang' and meet my son for the 1st X...Bassell has been forever changed! We would always talk about what it was like on the road...he in Rock & Roll and me in Jazz....2 strangely different people than those that slept around. Both just wanting decent relationships... Also, I couldn't have played the horn this way, without the love and support of the Daley family. Joe and Wanda were a beam of light throughout my teens and young adult. Encouraging me to push further than what was around me... Joe was my 1st tuba teacher and inspired my direction into the music scene of New York City at a very early age. He saw in me what I couldn't have imagined in myself! Rest in Peace, Wanda.
