The Singer and The Song Priscilla Wright Wright Touch Records 2002 The story of this album in Priscilla's words: When I was a young kid, I had a miracle happen ---- an international hit record, "Man in a Raincoat", which led to wonderful experiences such as appearing on all the top U.S. television shows (including the Ed Sullivan Show), and performing with such artists as Elvis Presley (in several concerts), George Shearing --- and Ella Fitzgerald, who came to me after I performed, saying: "Keep on singin',honey!" And so I am. This is my first album of standards from the great North American Songbook, and to complete the circle, we've included the original "Man in a Raincoat" (the master tape still in amazing shape!). This is the first time this hit has been available in CD format. Comments and Reviews: The internationally renowned vibist, Peter Appleyard: "Here's a great CD with a selection of songs that are favourites with everyone who loves the great American songbook composers. I loved Priscilla's hit 'Man in a Raincoat' and I am delighted it is included. Keep swinging Priscilla; it's always a pleasure to play this album." Cadence Magazine described the CD as "absolutely Grade A cabaret jazz" and Priscilla as "Powerfully Wonderful!" Bio notes: After resuming her singing upon reaching adulthood, Priscilla has been nominated for a Juno award, recommended in Billboard magazine, and has appeared from the U.S. on international telethons. She has performed sold out concerts with symphony orchestras, including the Toronto Pops at Massey Hall, and has appeared at many jazz festivals including the main stage of the Montreal Jazz Festival. Recently, she had the honour of being featured in a concert organized and produced by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.
