Rick Sikes was an active member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans and had long wanted to do an "authentic" civil war song album. Jim Glaspy's tremendous musical ability contributed to the idea to make it happen. The traditional songs are all arranged by Glaspy and Sikes and vocals are by Rick Sikes, Jim Glaspy, Karina Glaspy and Jan Sikes.
