简介

秋山徹次专辑介绍:by François CoutureVol. 2 in A Bruit Secret's series Compositions for Guitars presents works by four composers, this time all Japanese. As a whole, the album is drier, more demanding and merciless, mostly because nothing here equals the good-humored intelligence of Burkhard Stangl's "Tuning" pieces from Vol. 1. But some of these microsonics (or lowercase) works have much to offer. The set begins with Toshimaru Nakamura's "gt flo #2" exploring the same feedback micro-field he introduced on Side Guitar. An arrangement of feedback summoned from guitar, pickups, and amplifiers, the piece has a menacing quality, unlike his gentler "nimb" pieces. Tetuzi Akiyama is back on resonator guitar for "Moebius Rings (For Two Guitars)." The guitarist handles both parts, overdubbed, proposing a nicely woven piece of delicate, awkward contrapuntal lines. Taku Unami's "The Whisperer in Darkness" is sandwiched between two pieces by Otomo Yoshihide. A duet between Unami on pedal steel guitar and Akiyama on acoustic guitar, the track hovers at the threshold of existence, the heavy presence of silence threatening to dislocate it. Fans of Radu Malfatti's or Taku Sugimoto's experiences in extreme listening may lose themselves within the space it creates (although better examples of this form exist); others will skip over it. The title of Yoshihide's "Plastics Pick & Mini-Motor" probably describes the implements he uses on his electric guitar, but the best has been saved for last: "Softly, As in Five Guitars Feedbacks" is a beautiful droning quintet. This series, especially this volume, will be of interest only to the most open-minded listeners who already have knowledge of the Japanese quiet improv scene.
