简介
The Campbell Apartment, named after a bar hidden inside New York's Grand Central Station, is the brain-child of Russian born singer-songwriter Ari Vais. The bar is now closed and the band continues to rock. The Campbell Apartment the band won the name game!!! The Campbell Apartment consists of Vais on vocals and guitar, bassist Kevin Frank and drummer Steve Mathews. The Campbell Apartment is currently at work in San Francisco recording their 4th album. Early songs can be heard here, one by one, until the full LP has been completed. Thus far, sludgy "Ready for the Crawl", moody "Frustration Station" and the obvious radio single "VP of Snails" have dropped.... keep an ear here for the next batch! "At once chaotic, melodic and literate...one of my favorite songwriters" - Chris Collingwood, Fountains Of Wayne "Reminds me of Ween" - Badly Drawn Boy (Damon Gough) "Very Pavement-y" - Joe Levy, Rolling Stone Magazine ******************* Here's what pundits are saying about The Campbell Apartment: "...sounds like the Clash fronted by Jonathan Richman - the power of the music leavened by the wryness of the lyrics. Underlying that tension, however, is an emotional richness that repeated listenings - and you will listen repeatedly - reveal. They walk an ever-shifting line between knowing detachment and painful vulnerability. The instant you ease into one mode, the tone or the tempo changes and you're whipsawed into the other. The album is like life in that way - unsettling turns and touching surprises, each when you least expect them." -Anthony DeCurtis Rolling Stone “The songs are typically short and to the point - like a good butcher, The Campbell Apartment cuts the fat and just gives you the meat of the song. A great gift for your loved one with A.D.D.” --Bill's Music Forum “There are to-the-point tunes like the opening track, a simple yet beautiful acoustic reverie... and the wistful reminiscence that's spiked by a chorus both hilarious and true for anyone whose preteen years are still fresh in their mind.” --Daily Hampshire Gazette “The short tunes are full of cognizant material and occasionally hilarious lyrics.” --Powerpopaholic “By calling The Campbell Apartment crafty and clever, does that mean they're too smart to receive radio airplay? Not at all, in fact have you listened to the radio lately? It needs more original bands like The Campbell Apartment, whose album could be this decade's Rumours if they wanted it to be. Instead I think they're happy with it being this generation's Insomniac's Almanac and are willing to take it as far as they can (and I hope they do).” --The Run-Off Groove "A powerful set of songs, rendered expertly and passionately by one of my favorite songwriters. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do." --Chris Collingwood (Fountains Of Wayne) “Irreverent, charming and some happy listening” – NOTION MAGAZINE “Like a pound of Semtex going off in a ball-pit full of 90’s indie records” – THE FLY “The Campbell Apartment are a rather excellent pop combo (in the truest sense of the term – i.e. they write excellent melodic rock songs that should be popular” – VINYL DISTRICT “It’s a playfully 90’s, R.E.M. vibe with some of the recent lo-fi vibe of bands like Tribes and Yuck thrown in” – SUBBA CULTURE
