Composer Eugene Magalif (b. 1957, Vitebsk, Belarus), has lived in the USA since 1990. He graduated from Vitebsk Music College and Belarusian Academy of Music. During his years in Belarus, Mr. Magalif became well-known for his pop-songs and music for children. His compositions were recorded by famous singers and orchestras from different countries and featured on Radio and TV. Currently, his compositions are performed in more than 60 countries. Mr. Magalif is the author of the musical «Swineherd», cantata «Barmaley», music for Theater, Ra-dio, and TV, chamber and orchestral works, Christian music for the choir, as well as numerous popular songs and ballads. Maestro Yuri Temirkanov, Chief Conductor of the St. Petersburg State Philharmonic Orchestra, wrote that "Eugene Magalif’s music is delightful, first of all in its professionalism, as well as quite amusing and witty.” Magalif's «Colibri» [Hummingbird] for Flute was named «Pearl of the World flute music» (O. Brilon, musicologist), and «Flute Talk» Magazine (USA) gave the highest rank possible to «Colibri» in its March 2015 issue. Magalif’s music was performed by world-known artists, ensembles and orchestras at different Festivals and in prestigious concert halls, such as : «Organ Festival» (Spain), «Anaheim Heritage» (USA), «Eurochestries» (France), «Via Regia» (Germany), «Belarusian Musical Autumn» and «Slavianski Bazaar» (Belarus); Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and Lobero Theater (USA), Rachmaninoff Concert Hall (Russia), Görlitz Theater (Germany), State Philharmonic (Belarus), Baltazar Dias Theater (Portugal), «Odeon» Theater (Austria) etc. The White House 2014 Winter Concert Season was opened with Magalif’s Fantasie on Ukrainian carol. It was performed three times during December by two Flute Orchestras. In March 2016 the composer recorded his orchestral works for the upcoming album and gave a recital at Dnipropetrovsk Philharmonic Concert Hall, Ukraine. Symphony Orchestra, Children’ Choirs and soloists from 5 different countries took part in this International project named «Concert for Peace». On July 2016 Magalif was invited by Sir James Galway to be a guest of the Galway Flute Festival in Weggis, Switzerland.
