简介
In the spring of 2009, Josh Bradford found inspiration from an unexpected break from his day job to write what he now calls his "Breakup Tryptych." "I Wanna Break Up," "Walkin' Away," and "Good to be Alone" were all written in the course of one day, rehearsed the following day, and were being roughly recorded in the studio within that week. By the fall of that same year, Josh was able to return to the studio to polish up the three songs, and decided to add three more tracks to an EP that is the length of some albums. "Woman of the Hour" was written as an hommage to his grandmother for her 80th birthday. "Sheep and Plums" is a song from his yet unperformed and unrecorded rock musical. And his many years playing jazz standards inspired a live studio recording of "Autumn Leaves" sung with the original Jacques Prevert French lyrics along with the popular Johnny Mercer words. Unlike many of his previous projects, Josh recorded these songs in hopes of breaking onto a kind of Indie Music scene, opening opportunities to perform in many venues beyond small concert hall and jazz gigs. Josh Bradford physically released the EP on May 10, 2010 at the Rose Marine Theater in Fort Worth, TX after playing a well-received concert highlighting his songs from the previous few years. The CD has been in plans to be released digitally for over 2 years with several setbacks, but now it is finally available to be heard and shared beyond Texan borders. That's a good thing, especially from an artist who, though grateful to have lived a fulfulling musical life in Texas, longs to feel what it's like to make and share music outside of a lifelong home base. Special note to those buying the physical CD. There is a "hidden track" available that will probably surprise some listeners. Quite different from any of the tracks described above, but then again, the CD is an eclectic mix, and shouldn't a hidden track make a CD even more so?
