Graham Clarke grew up in Oradell, New Jersey (but don't hold it against him). He has been performing for children professionally since September 1995. He currently lives in a big, old house in Somers, NY, with his wife, Peggy, and his toy Poodles Athena and Pandora (who has earned the right to her name). Graham graduated from the Honor’s Program at Boston College where he earned a Bachelors Degree in both English and Philosophy. From there he taught English Literature at a Bronx high school and went on to earn a Master’s in Philosophy from Fordham University. While working his way through graduate school and newly married, he took care of his one year old nephew. To pass time, they went to train stations (Blake loved trains), took walks through town and Graham played guitar to help baby Blake sleep. His sister-in-law, a teacher herself, suggested that Graham bring his guitar to schools to play for kids. (Excellent idea, Janine.) He loved it so much, he forgot about that pesky PhD and started writing music full time. Graham’s style is smart and fun and grounded in ethical teaching and important lessons for kids but avoids being saccharine sweet or condescending. Graham’s talent lies not just in his vocal and musical skill, but in his ability to balance sincerity with silly, meeting the needs of both children and parents simultaneously. More than a few adults have admitted that they play his CDs even when the kids aren’t in the car.
