简介
D.D. Dumbo aka Oliver Perry may have been born and bred in Castelmaine – a small town in regional Victoria best known for its gold fields and delicious candy – but his songs sound like they’ve crawled from within the murkiest depths of the Delta. He describes his music as earthy blues that references “African dessert, Tanzanian ilimba and transcendental Tuvan melody”, and that pretty well sums it up. What makes it all the more exciting is that it also sounds like nothing else being made in Australia right now. New single Tropical Oceans is taken from Perry’s most recent self-titled EP, and it weaves together all these seemingly disparate influences with a deep blues rhythm and haunting tribal melodies. It’s one of five tracks on the new release, which also includes a sinister cover of Roy Orbison’s Crying, and is available digitally and on extremely limited 12” vinyl right now. You can catch D.D. Dumbo playing at The Bridge Hotel in his hometown this Friday, November 29.
