简介
Samarkande was formed in 1998 by Eric Fillion and Sylvain Lamirande. They produced so far 6 albums. (4 Cadavres Exquis - 2002), (Rude Awakening - 2004), (Douglas’ Basement - 2006), (3 Synapses - 2008) and (Ordo ab Chao - 2015) and (Ouèlle? - 2017). Sometime Improvised, other time Experimental or structured by Composition, Samarkande’s albums managed from time to time to explore many aspects of the Electronic Music. Always aware on renewing themselves through sound exploratrions and never falling into repetition or ease, Samarkande is now coming with a new project very influenced by a movement that took form in the late 60’s in Germany, initiated by musicians and group such as Tangerine Dream, Conrad Schnitzler, Can or Agitation Free, the Krautrock became a new way of thinking music for many young German musicians and forged a new cultural approach for the post-war Germany and for many other generations after on. This new direction for the ensemble is very attributable by the addition of a new member through its lineup. Martin Lavallée (percussion), who has forged a style on his own through the Indie Montreal scene by performing with many venue. The most noteworthy would be his association with Crowface, formed by Mauro Penzzente (Godspead You Black Emperor). Martin also appeared in many collectives such as Sam Shalabi and Alexandre St-Onge. Gideon Cohen, a long time Partner in crime also took part in these improvised sessions as sound engineer, vocalist and instrumentist.
