Tracy Collins has always been an artist at heart and has a passion for writing music. She's a mom, wife and lifelong student with a love of learning who continues to find the hours short among the seemingly perpetual demands of life. Frustrated by the lack of meaningful Hanukkah songs that a person might actually want to listen to, she wrote one for her two children. Her song’s full potential was truly realized when friend, Chris Amelar, added his technical and instrumental prowess. Chris graduated magna cum laude from William Paterson University with honors in music and jazz performance. He is an accomplished player in jazz, rock, country, classical and other popular styles and can be seen performing around the NYC metropolitan area in a wide range of different ensembles. Tracy’s music and lyrics along with Chris’s beautiful accompaniment create a contemporary, moving ballad with an evocative melody and poetic story that will penetrate your soul and leave you full of joy and hope. Performed with heartfelt emotion and beautifully arranged, this is a song that will stay with you far beyond the holiday season and will surely become a classic. Tracy is under no delusion about her vocal abilities or the fact that this song calls for a much more accomplished artist, but since Barbra, Celine, Andrea, Josh, Harry, Billy, Taylor, and Lee Ann were all busy she figured she might as well give it a shot. Perhaps next year one of them will include the song on a holiday album, and although that would be the realization of a dream, it would still pale in comparison to the joy she feels when hearing her kids hum the tune around the house or seeing her mother's happy tears upon hearing the finished track.
