I first picked up the guitar at the age of 11 and began learning and exploring classical and jazzmenco styles (Mason Williams, Strunz & Farah and Ottmar Liebert are some of my influences) for about 6 years, during which, my band (my dad, older brother and I) would perform at local venues. After high school I started getting more into acoustic rock and blues (Days of The New, Robben Ford, SRV, John Mayer). My brother and I continued adapting our sound as a cover band playing at coffee shops and restaurants, parties, and even weddings on occasion. In 2005, I was asked to be the lead guitarist of local upcoming band made up of a lead singer and drummer. From 2005 - 2009 we wrote several originals (experimental rock and blues) and learned many covers (Coldplay, U2, Foo Fighters, SRV, Jimmy Hendrix, & others) and played at private parties, bars and restaurants. It was during those years that I was really beginning to develop my sound as a guitarist and songwriter. Towards the end of my time with the band, I met my future wife (she was the assistant photographer taking our band pictures). She has told me that it was my semi-chiseled frame, boyish charm and humor, but mostly my sick riffs that made her fall in love with me. We married in 2012 and we have 2 children (James, 3 and Ryan, 1). These past 5 years has been the craziest and most wonderful time in my life. It has been filled with more struggle than ever before but also more love and blessings than I can even comprehend. It's through all this that my musical art has become what it is. My love of pure '70's Americana and Folk (AMERICA FTW) blended with the dense, creative and rich styles of artists like John Mayer and Jon Foreman has been a huge influential force for me. I hope to put out a full length album in the next year or two. I have lots of creative ideas that I hope to share with you... Please enjoy my first ever released single (Near Your Heart) that I wrote/recorded/edited/mixed in my humble home studio. I hope it'll "light the fire in you". Before anything else, music is art!
