(1/1/08 Jersey City, NJ)- In a little over a year since inception, Jersey City’s newest rock potentates, WJ & THE SWEET SACRIFICE, have released their debut album, the 10 song barnburner entitled, THE REST OF YOUR NIGHTS on new Hoboken, NJ based imprint MOONLIGHT MILE RECORDS. The debut, released in October 2007 at the venerable CMJ Music Marathon in NYC, features the first single, “14 Rivers”, an ode to late nights, lost loves and lonely hearts. The lineup; WJ Ferrara (Vox/Guitars), Erin Connors (Guitars/Rhodes/Vox) Michael Moebius (Bass/Guitars) & Neil McAneny (Drums/Vox), headed into Moonlight Mile Recording in the winter of 2007 and with producer/engineer Michael Moebius at the helm, crafted 10 hook laden, genre swapping, “doom-country” gems which juxtapose buoyant blues-country chord progressions with power chord rock anthems and the lyrical complexity of wearing your heart on your sleeve and actually pulling it off. Reminiscent of Greg Dulli’s intensity, Jon Spencer’s swagger, with hints of boozy Morrison, frontman WJ’s dark, brooding vocal style serves as the catalyst in delivering the lonely themes which permeate the record. On “Evil of Idle Hands”, his honest, to the point delivery, “But the things you want from me will never be there” provide an introduction to the sense of disappointment which echos throughout much of the album. When he screams in the crescendo into the second chorus of the title track, “The Rest of Your Nights”, “Is this what you want now for the rest of your nights? ”, you can feel his sense of anguish. Lyrically, while at times admitting to his shortcomings, WJ makes very few apologies for his actions in search of redemption, instead appearing to revel in the power of both being let down and lonely and in turn having the ability to let others down. Other notable songs on THE REST OF YOUR NIGHTS is the poignant “One Chance”,the Whiskeytown influenced, “Son of a Bitch” and the spirited Misfits inspired rocker, “Planes of Saturn”. The band is currently booking a SPRING 2008 TOUR, with stops all over the country.
