简介
I'm very proud of this music. Most was created for something or someone, but a few were just because I had a few hours and some inspiration. I really hope you enjoy the music... of course, if you can handle the fact that there are no words. Fanfare was mashed-up from several sources for a friend's video company. The Rowing was written for the annual canoe races at Disneyland. OuterVision came about because a co-worker brought a ukulele to Disneyland and left it lying around. I picked it up, learned some chords as I entertained the audience, took it home and recorded this song, strumming it with a credit card, as I owned no guitar picks. Paul Revere was written and aired as the theme song for the DirecTV show, Midnight Rider, which also became available on DVD. (Don't search it out. The show is probably not as bad as you are imagining right now, but some things you just can't unhear.) The Great Kangaroo War was supposed to be the cinematic music for a video game that never made it. Warring Kangaroo tribes, bouncing into battle... You get the picture. Jane's Dedication Song was written the day before my wife, Jen, and I dedicated our daughter, Jane, to the Lord and was played at that service. 3 Part Invention is not a title, so much as a description of the homework assignment this came from during my time at BIOLA University. (A harpsichord version of this tune made its way into my actual video game, Quest for Glory 4 1/2 - So You Thought You Heard It All? and is now available here.) Dodecasong is another homework assignment from music theory days. This 12 Tone song became and remains the course's demonstration/inspiration composition, played each semester as the assignment is given. The Oasis (probably my favorite song on the album) was written for another game that ended up not making it to shelves. (Wonder why I stopped endeavoring to write for games? :) I particularly like this tune because of the radical combination of cultural influences in the instrumentation, the voicing, the scale and chord structures used. Eastern and Western influences meeting together, cultures combining at the source of water, The Oasis. High Noon:30 was originally written for a national reading campaign and provided the score for a short radio drama series, encouraging children to read and parents to support their local libraries. A year after the launch of that campaign, I returned to this tune and reworked it with a bit more kick. The Innolympics Theme was arranged from several of my favorite sonic moments, for our company games in Tomorrowland. Jane's Lullabye - still useful in soothing my baby. Erasmus' Mountain was my favorite track on Quest for Glory 4 1/2, but I had always hoped to come back around and support the composition with all the tools in my growing compositional toolbelt. (I won't be offended if you replace the original with this one on your Quest for Glory 4 1/2 Soundtrack, also available for download :) That is all there is to know about this collection of songs, spanning 8+ years. Enjoy the music and tell your friends. Thanks to my dear friends, Matt and Emily, for your belief, encouragement and support of the music I make.
