Foreword (by Stephanie Scott) One evening I was "chatting" online with my brother when he asked, "So, what does He have you working on?" (meaning: what is God doing in my life?) I was a little surprised, not by the question, but by the fact that it was my brother who asked it. You see, almost two years ago he was in jail (again) for abusing drugs. For more than ten years he struggled with addiction to alcohol and methamphetamines while my family could do little but pray for him. He crashed his car, lost his license, was kicked out by my parents and lived on the street for awhile and spent time in rehab. My parents practically went crazy trying to love him without enabling him. I distinctly remember telling him during a visit: "I love you, but I don't like you right now." (I cannot print his response...) I prayed for him for several years and hoped that one day he would be free from the addictions and that God would use his struggles somehow to glorify Himself. Well, none of my prayers has ever been answered more clearly. While my brother was in jail for the last time he had a conversion experience. He experienced God's love and grace so personally that now he has to share it. A song of thanksgiving came to him and as soon as he was free, he began working on it. He sent me a copy of the song last Fall-"Thank You for Saving Me"-- and I was moved by his heartfelt confession of dependence upon God. I spoke to him on the phone a few days after our chat and by the time I hung up, I was charged! Listening to him talk about how God was using him to reach other people, especially people who are recovering from similar addictions, was exciting. He spoke rapidly and coherently (that in itself was awesome!) and told me how people responded to his message. Later, he sent me a recording of four songs that he had written (and performed) and it's almost hard to believe that this is the same brother that listened to and wrote gangsta rap music. He has truly been "born again." This album is truly a blessing for him and our family. I hope that many will be reached by the music God has placed in my brother and I know that God will be glorified in the process. Amen!
