Akia Knowles dubbed the "Bahamian Ella Fitzgerald" is a Bahamian singer, producer, songwriter, pianist, and teacher who gained notoriety as a jazz vocalist. Although she is known for her vocal ability today, her first foray into the music world came through the piano at age 5. In 2000 she won the exhibition award from Trinity College of Music for receiving the highest score worldwide. She performed for the Cacique Awards 2000 & 2001. 2004 she was the lead for the show Disco Divas and 2005 the lead for ‘Bahama Mama’. In 2007 she produced her first album entitled “Intimacy with Him” 2013, she traveled to Osaka, Japan and performed there for 6 months. At the end of 2013, Akia moved to China. In 2014 Akia began working on her album “Simply Me” and joined forces with producer ‘Sketch’ Carey. In 2014 & 2015, Akia collaborated with The Langham Hotel Shenzhen. She produced the hotel's theme song for their restaurant DUKES along with the hotel's first album, Sounds of Dukes that is scheduled for release in June 2015. On May 15th, her first single from her upcoming album “Simply Me” was released.
