简介
The Scarecrows was started by David Pedroza, Jeff Chandler, and Curt Fike during the fall of 1983 in a California garage. Within their first year, the band built a strong local following and recorded a nine song album. Spotted by Paul Santos, the Scarecrows recorded this full length release for his indie label XLNT Brand Records. During this era, the band featured Doni Gray (Citadel, Burning Tree) on drums and Eddie Sedano (Cathedral of Tears) on keyboards. The recording sessions were held at the famous Casbah studios, home to classic Orange County punk band Social Distortion. Originally recorded in 1984, the tapes sat unheard and unreleased until 2006. Two songs, Police Car and Pitchfork were recorded in 1985 and released as a 7” record on the band’s own label. Over a span of 9 years, the Scarecrows continued to record and play live shows with such bands as Johnny Thunders, Violent Femmes, 45 Grave and Agent Orange. Some band member lined-ups included Cork Sellers, Ron Sloan, Tony Muse, Derek Obrien, Mike & Dave Petrus, Marc & Kirsten Ford, Craig Stonehoff, Jerry King, Tim Brogden, Marshall Rohner, Jack Rivera and Ron Hagadone. Produced by Paul Santos and The Scarecrows. Recorded August 18, 1984 and March 11, 1985 by Chaz Ramirez at Casbah Studios in Fullerton, CA . Mixed by Max Solomon, Mark Dutton and Anthony Arvisu. All songs written by The Scarecrows except “Police Car” by L. Wallis, Street Music LTD. Other musicians who played on these sessions were Ron Sloan: drums, Eddie Sedano: keyboards and Mark Hattersley: keyboards. Photos: Kelly Golsarry, Cindy Miley and Paul Brown.
