简介

Put quite simply, this is probably the finest work Darcy has done to date. These songs have impressed fans and won over many critics. Following their placing second overall in the Cornerstone Festival's New Band Showcase in 2009, several of these songs formed the basis of Darcy's set at the festival, a set which won them universal acclaim from the festival's official blog, produced the offer of a recording contract, and secured them several more festival performances. A tour with Bradley Hathaway and Poema followed shortly. Darcy has always been a band who cared more about its songs than anything else. The way the instruments sound, the person singing lead vocals, and the costumes on stage (their first time playing with the Johnson brothers in the lineup, they wore white turtlenecks) have all changed from time to time, but the emphasis on writing catchy and meaningful songs remains. What will you hear that's different from other releases? In this version of Darcy, Chase Johnson sings lead vocals and plays a Rhodes keyboard on most tracks, with his brother Gunnar Johnson playing lead guitar and singing lead on "If Your Heartache Evaporates." What will you hear that's still the same? Founding Darcy members Nathan Miller (guitar, keys, vocals) and Dustin Aguilar (guitar) do most of the songwriting, with Dustin providing again a few visionary tracks filled with unusual story-lines and a refreshing lack of any clear thesis (The Fall of the Economy, Strong Man), while Nathan again writes the majority of the songs, focusing like James Joyce on the poetry of various everyday moments (If Your Heartache Evaporates, Miracle Days, Today on the Town Square) and often invoking images of rivers and oceans (If Your Heartache Evaporates, The Parade), even remembering his boyhood longings to run away like Huckleberry Finn (The Parade). Also, on this EP, a transition on drums was made, with Josiah Hampton playing both Chase Johnson's and his own drum-kit arrangements. A transition of bass players is present as well, with Andrew McKinney's melodic bass lines on most tracks, as well as some by Jon Ladner (who also played some guitar and helped write lyrics). The entire recording was made in Off the Square Studios and was engineered, mixed, and mastered by Sean Jones.
