"In these days of technology and high speed living it is an increasingly rare pleasure to find a special place where nature and history remain untouched by the modern world, a place where one can hear ones own thoughts and harness the inner music. These places, however, are still there - if you know where to look. In the midst of a dense forest, in the district of Lempäälä in western Finland, we came upon just such a place a late iron age hill fort known a – s "Pirunlinna" - "The Demon's Castle"- and this project was born. The music on this CD was made entirely in the heart of that forest, with the birds and beasts of the place for company. The recordings are made "mostly live" that is to say that the backing tracks are recorded completely live, with only some vocals and the occasional whistle track added seperately. The idea was to blend the feeling of a live recording with the quality and sharpness of a studio and capture something of the mystical atmosphere of that very special place.
