Crystal Gates was formed in Montevideo in the year 2013 by Benjamín Machín and Carolina Pérez, as a side project for Benjamín’s previous band Ecliptica and as a starting band experience for Carolina. Soon, the yet nameless duo recorded a cover version of the song «Gates of Dawn» by the celtic/new age european group Secret Garden. Moved by the positive energy they generated together, they decided to become a full-time band. The composing process started, soon giving birth to many songs which could described as power/symphonic metal in the vein of Nightwish, Avantasia, Sonata Arctica and the like. After two years of hard work, six of this songs were selected and recorded in the duo’s first release: A QUEST FOR LIFE.
