While riding on the bus on their way back from a performance in Sao Paulo, the kids from Meninos do Morumbi started singing “I Love Rock ‘N Roll.” They were having such a fun time singing the song that both producer John Jones and Richard Martinez picked up their video cameras and started filming. Upon returning to Los Angeles John sampled the audio from the video they shot while on the bus and began to build the song around it. Producer John Jones' next step, via the internet, was recording the percussion of kids of Meninos do Morumbi along with Meninos' president and founder Flavio Pimenta at Mosh Studios in Sao Paulo, Brazil. With the help of Mosh Studios’ owner Oswaldo Malagutti Jr, recording engineer Silas Godoye, and assistant Rudolpho, John was able to record not only the percussion for I Love Rock ‘n Roll but twenty-one other drum loops as well. John then added to his arrangement Tom Petty’s drummer Steve Ferrone, The Cult’s bass player Chris Wyse, guitarist Michael Thompson, and vocalist Barnett O'Hara to sing the lead. In addition, John played keyboards. Ed Cherney acted as mix adviser and Gavin Lurssen (Lurssen Mastering) mastered the recording. This is a fun Meninos do Morumbi recording of a great song.
