简介
FALLING STAR is a musical tragedy - a modern-day OTHELLO - in which a popular hero of the times, loved and respected by all, strangles his wife in a jealous rage that has been fueled by another, an envious newspaper man. Although acquitted in a highly publicized trial, his successful public life has ceased, and friends have abandoned him. Alone, and with his life reduced to memories of the once-heroic past, he learns that the cause of his dark jealousy was unfounded - his wife had always been faithful. In total anguish and despondency he takes his own life. The 22 songs of Judy McAleer are a vibrant mixture of ones uplifting and carefree entwined with others poignant and heart-rending as would be in keeping with the story's tragic theme. Vocals parts are by members of the Washington and Baltimore Operas, and a vocalist who toured with the Boston Pops. Orchestral instruments are both professional and students from Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University. Arrangement and CD direction is by David Alan Bunn, musical director of many Broadway and Off-Broadway shows.
