Versus Shade Collapse’ debut album, “I’m going to die,” is Sandra C. Valencia solo project. This album depicts the angst, fear, doubt, confusion and hope experienced during her transition from being married to not being, and from not being an artist to becoming one, while realizing that it’s best to accept whatever is happening until there’s nothing else happening at all and enjoy. It’s a dark, concept album, with a hint of sunshine. Sandra has always been passionate about music, but making music never seemed like a possibility. She got on the mouse wheel of studying to get a job, get married to have children, etc. Three years ago, during a difficult moment of transition, of being lost, and while playing with a new phone, she recorded a melody that popped in her head. She shared this melody with a musician, and just for fun, they harmonized, arranged and turned this melody into a song. She realized that making songs was not impossible and she loved it so much that she became a melody making machine, recording to date about a hundred demos. Twelve of those demos have become “I’m going to die” which will be released on April 7th, 2016, and she is in the process of producing another album that will be finished this summer. Sandra is from Medellin, Colombia, and has lived half her life in California, mainly in Los Angeles. She is now divorced with a seven year old girl, and is a High School teacher by trade, though wanting not have be one anymore in order to make more music.
