Constantly being surrounded by the beautiful melodies her mother played and sang with her guitar, the syncopated patterns her father played on the congas, and the intricate, classical pieces her sister brought to life on the piano, music was ever-present in the life of vocalist Marisol Marquez. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California from Cuban and Mexican parents, Marisol was exposed to innumerable amounts of music from a very young age, spanning across genres from Rumba to Mariachi, and Showtunes to RnB. This exposure to such diversity laid down the foundation for what was to be her musical journey. As a little girl, Marisol sang at church and participated in any and all talent showcases at her school, taking center stage whenever given the opportunity. It was during one of these performances that her mother realized the raw talent she possessed and immediately knew it needed training in order to refine and develop it. Marisol took lessons every week under the watchful eye of her private teacher and explored different techniques to discover the range and textures of her voice. Simultaneously, she began training as a classical dancer at a local dance academy where for 10 years she studied Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Contemporary, competing across Southern California and earning recognition for her excellence in dance. In her first year of High School, she ventured into the world of Musical Theatre and became an integral part of one of the most distinguished Theatre programs in the state and at the age of 15 she began arranging harmonies for their annual Productions. Her ability for arranging and coaching lead her to a permanent position once she graduated from the program. Marisol is currently finishing her Bachelors Degrees in both, English and Theatre Arts hoping to create an intensive background from which to launch her career. In the last 3 years she has been refining her vocal talents working among Los Angeles’ most prominent and well established bands and musicians creating a reputation and level of musicianship she is very proud of. Most notably, in February of 2009 she was asked to be a guest artist along side Alvaro Torres on his West Coast Tour with Nelson Ned, getting a small taste of stardom as she performed in front of thousands at two of California’s most prestigious venues. Marisol, now at the launch of her career as a solo artist, is exploring the wonders of songwriting in collaboration with Cuban composer and producer Yalil Guerra. Marisol’s first single release entitled “Perdóname”, a song composed by Marisol and Yalil in a Salsa rhythm, combines elements of Pop and Traditional Afro Cuban music.
