America needs more rappers that spit about palm trees, skateboarding and being a nerd. You know, that aren’t MC Frontalot. I mean COOL nerd-rappers. As catchy as this sh*t is, don’t expect anyone to be daggering to Proto’s 9 song EP. No one wants to dry hump to a song about Bernie Mac. If they do, call the cops. Bringing in verses from some of LA’s more notable underground artists (Scarub of Living Legends, 2Mex and the lanky Russian Ivan Ives) somehow overcompensates for a Van Haggar sample. Barely.
