Half instrumental acoustic guitar songs and half acoustic guitar songs with lyrics. Many of the instrumental tunes have complementary guitar parts, either acoustic over acoustic or slide over acoustic. "Feather" has a pretty, open sound with ample slide overlaying it. "Ecliptic" also features slide and is the most compositionally complex on the album. "Close to the Clouds" is a song that was inspired by a trail in the Santa Rita Mountains in southern Arizona. "On the Steps" is about the songwriter's mother's death.
