General info: Wool recordings loves Laetitia Sadier’s music and since the split 10'' Woolly Jumpers #1, we wanted to do a special release all around her. For this special occasion we asked her to curate something really personal. She decided to invite some of her closest friends to take part in the project, with a water-related song as only suggestion. "La piscine" is not a compilation but rather a collaborative project of friends and talented artists. You'll hear Richard Swift - Laetitia has been introduced to him at a party in Orange County during a Monade Tour in US, she loved his album so much that in 2008 Richard was been invited to open for Stereolab's US tour. The idea of working together started then, and finally they did it on Laetitia Sadier solo album "The trip". It's almost a question of friendship and complicity here. Superbravo is Armelle's project, she's also in the french indie band Holden. This is what she says about Laetitia Sadier: " I met Laetitia in Portugal about a year ago; but i knew her as a singer, for a long time; I have most of the stereolab albums at home, and eventually completed my collection with Monade lps, and the beautiful album she released under her name; for many reasons, I really felt like meeting a sister when i first met her; let say that our destinies are quite synchronised I really love the way she's playing guitar, and her very noticeable way of telling stories; no one sounds like her and I'm happy to consider myself as a friend of this unique and mysterious girl" Laetitia has invited Rebecca Gates too; she's an incredible songwriter. Laetitia and Rebecca met long time ago in Chicago during the "Emperor Tomato Ketchup" recording sessions with Stereolab. They are still very close friends and Laetitia invited her to participate to her first solo album "The Trip". Laetitia tells us more about it: "Rebecca Gates is a US based musician, curator, artist and audio editor. She has released four albums, three as leader of the critically acclaimed group The Spinanes (Sub Pop), toured internationally and appeared as a vocalist on numerous records by artists as wide ranging as The Decemberists and Willie Nelson. Her 2001 record _Ruby Series_ was hailed by Spin Magazine as “warm, thoughtful, and melodically gorgeous.” With "La Piscine" Laetitia is offering Wool Recordings two unreleased songs too. "Resistance dans l'ombre" with Richard Swift taken from the session of "The trip" and a new exciting one called "G the opposite of spectator". Press : Laetitia Sadier "The Trip" Pitchfork : 8,1/10 Pasted Magazine 8/10 Spin: "Caressed by gentle guitars and synths, her elegantly serene voice and airy melodies impart a sense of stubborn, reassuring endurance in the face of soul-crushing melancholy". The Fly.co.uk: ‘Statues Can Bend’ is the most satisfying blast of sophisto-pop she’s made in years and her version of ‘Un Soir, Un Chien’ comes, unexpectedly but deliciously, drenched in Donna Summery sauce. ‘The Trip’’ s a trifle trifling in parts, admittedly, but Sadier’s evidently thriving outside of the confines of the ‘Lab...
