At age seven, Phill began playing the cornet under tutelage of his late father, Des O’Neill. Since then Phill has achieved great success winning many competitions at State, National, Junior and senior levels. Phill has also been invited to compete in the prestigious Ern Keller International Soloist of the year Competition on several occasions. As a member of the Australian Defence Force Bands, Phill has had the honour of performing for dignitaries such as Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Prime Ministers of Australia, past and present, amongst many others. Phill has also performed with music greats such as James Morrison, Guy Sebastian and continues to work as a casual member of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Opera Australia. Phill recorded this album in dedication to his late father, without whom none of these opportunities would have been possible.
