简介
The Prince Brothers (Eric and Bryan), are a Toronto-based pop/rock band from Markham, Ontario. Throughout their 15+ year tenure, The Prince Brothers have released 4 LPs, 3 EPs and more than a dozen singles. Over the years the band has played live shows all across Ontario and in the U.S. performing at various pop festivals, rock clubs and bars. The music has stretched far and wide. Known for their grand choruses and addictive hooks, The Prince Brothers have cooked up a brand new single to be released in early 2015. Boyce’s Road - Hydrocuts (1997-1999) The Prince Brothers formerly known as Boyce’s Road, was formed in 1997 when Eric Prince and cousin Colin Butler started playing acoustic gigs together in the Muskoka area; Bryan Prince and then bassist Chris Froggatt joined soon after. The band recorded their Hydrocuts EP, garnering a solid fan base and industry attention alike. Holding down residency gigs, making television appearances, and breaking into the Toronto club scene, the band was on their way to Catherine North in Hamilton to record their next album with Glen Marshall, Dan Achen and Bob Lanois. Boyce’s Road - Sunnyday, Stars and The Dwight Album (1999-2004) In late 1999 the band had a line-up change. Colin left the group and drummer Matthew Page joined. Bryan came off of the drums and onto bass, replacing Chris Froggatt. Boyce’s Road released the critically praised Sunnyday on the Page Music/EMI label in 2000. This was the bands first exposure to radio with tunes like, Sunnyday, Lemonshaker and Linda. Boyce’s Road played live constantly; opening for bands such as The Barenaked Ladies, The Flashing Lights and The Trews. In 2002 they recorded an EP called Stars; a collection of power-pop tunes recorded by Steven Page at Fresh Baked Woods. Following 2004's The Dwight Album and tour into the states the band called it a day. Boyce’s Road had a great run. They cut their teeth as an exceptional live act, recorded in various professional studios, made many T.V. appearances and networked as to what would be their next move. The Prince Brothers – Cedar Shakes, From This Place (2004-2010) After Boyce’s Road disbanded in late 2004, Eric and Bryan went on a hiatus from performing…but not writing and recording. Two new songs were born in this period, Take That Away and From This Place. 2006 marked their return to the stage, performing as a duo in cafes and small clubs. Writing more songs, developing a new sound, and then keyboard player Ben Kobayashi joined the fold. The trio released an EP called Cedar Shakes, continuing to perform in and around the Toronto area. In 2007 bassist Chris Osti joined the group and Bryan was back on the drums singing lead vocals. The Prince Brothers locked down a residency gig at the world famous Cameron House in Toronto. For the better part of 2 years the band played the Cameron weekly and recorded their third full length album, From This Place, mixed by Canadian producer/musician, Michael Phillip Wojewoda. From This Place features the CBC Radio hit, Take That Away. The Prince Brothers – Thursday Night Bingo and Artificial Heart (2010-2014) By the fall of 2010 The Prince Brothers had played upwards of 100 shows over 2 years, recorded an album, and added yet another member, David Paoli on guitar. The band released their second hit single In Pairs, receiving power rotation at CBC Radio 2. The Prince Brothers produced several musical projects in this period; recording in different locations, filming recording sessions, collaborating with different musicians and artists (Melanie Doane, Jennifer Foster, Michael Phillip Wojewoda, Derek Downham, Martin Dulac), they released a series of singles later to be put out on an album called, Thursday Night Bingo. In 2014 Jennifer Foster and The Prince Brothers released the single Artificial Heart. The Prince Brothers – Every Time I Turn Around (2015) Its hard to believe The Prince Brothers have been cranking out the tunes for over 15 years together. They will commemorate this with the release of their brand new single, Every Time I Turn Around. Recorded in the spring/summer of 2014, Eric and Bryan with bassist Chris Osti, keyboardist Ben Kobayashi, guitarist David Paoli and drummer Matthew Page, laid down this power-pop gem at Eric’s home studio in Toronto. This new song marks the first time the brothers have worked with former drummer Matthew Page since their band Boyce’s Road split in 2004. Every Time I Turn Around was mixed by Michael Phillip Wojewoda and mastered by FEDGE. In 2015, the band plans for some live shows, more producing and the digital release of their extensive back catalogue of tunes.
