简介
Listening to the great talents of Fred Hammond, Kirk Franklin, and more currently Tye Tribbett, Abram Staten and All 4 Christ has been looking into bringing this same type of cross-genre genius to the gospel world. Beginning with a few workers in a lab conversation and running close to 60 minutes over 13 tracks, The Solution packs a multifaceted emotional punch that might challenge many believers of only feel-good, happy expressions of "God is Good, all the time" type songs. Abram Staten and his group of musical chemist, uses a hip hop track to fashion his upfront statement to solving the world's problems ("THE SOLUTION IS THE KING"). Through this track, he attributes his ability to come through all the trials and worries of the world to the Almighty's grace, but later, he reflects refreshingly on his past on the gorgeous, heartfelt ballad "HISTORY." Then comes "Place of Worship," in which he feels lost in life; while not understanding God's ways, he seeks shelter to help his faith grow. More than simply, wonderfully honest, ultra-hip gospel, this is modern-day Psalming at its best. Blending grooves, horn textures, choir textures, and in-your-face rock, The Solution constantly balances trust (with such songs as "Everything"and "I Can’t Live") with the issues confronting the idea of maintaining faith in a difficult world. For the most part, THE SOLUTION achieves this, as it continues to demonstrate that front man Abram Staten is not one to take the normal approach to modern gospel music. Instead, he makes sure he and his crew’s sound can reach EVERYONE they possibly can. The blistering rock guitar driving "So Many Reasons" underscores the theme of loving God because He first loved us. This track brings the typical All 4 Christ mold and sounds of anthemic Christian rock. The message is always the artist's focus, but with so many tracks, the stylistic diversity (from quartet foot stomping "Five Loaves", to the Sunday morning mass choir sound of "All 4 Christ", and the torchy neo soul vibe in "Free to Be Me") makes the disc a soul-stirring blast from start to finish. This is one album that will leave the listener smiling through the bruises.
