This album is published to celebrate my brother's Piotr 75th birthday! "Sonata #25" was written for me and premiered in Yonkers, NY. Always very well received by the audiences, this is the first recording of this work. The "Nuits Bergamasques" a monumental composition, consist of seven movements. Each of them can be performed as a separate piece. One is encouraged to make up a desirable selection of any combination of movements according to performers wishes. Captivating phrasing, beautiful tone quality, always polished phrases and impeccable intonation – these are only some of the violinist’s virtues revealed in the exposed parts of Piotr Lachert’s 25 Sonata “Le Coucou’. The piece wins over with melodic invention and rhythmical fantasy. The 1st, 3rd and 5th movements are fast, spectacular and virtuosic showcases. The remaining two movements with charming titles “nie tak” and “znowu nie tak” (“not so” and “again not so”) were performed accordingly to their juxtaposed and witty character. ("Ruch Muzyczny", Warsaw 2005) ...Hanna Lachert persuaded her partners to perform a Sonata #25 “Le Coucou” composed for her in 2004 by her brother Piotr Lachert. The piece with its piquant gruff style references Poulenc or Prokofiev – which makes one happy, because a sense of humor in contemporary music is a rare virtue. The Sonata ends with a quote from baroque harpsichord piece “Le Coucou” by Louis Claude Daquin. The slow movements, entitled (in Polish) “Nie tak” and “Znowu nie tak”, contrast the mischievousness character of their titles with their substance and lyricism.
