Since forming MY BROTHER’S SISTER in May of 2012, brother and sister duo, Taylor and Bethany Pope, are carving a name for themselves. They just released their first Nashville recorded EP of originals. MY BROTHER’S SISTER considers themselves unique because of their versatility. They perform both traditional and modern country, bluegrass, and gospel which allows them to engage every age group and play to a variety of audiences. What really sets them apart is they perform all their own music, giving themselves a classic, pure sound. Taylor plays guitar, banjo, mandolin, and dobro while Bethany plays fiddle and mandolin. “Our main weapon is Bethany’s powerful voice.” Jokes Taylor, “people always drop their jaw, and say, ‘we didn’t expect that to come out of such a little body’”. Recently, MY BROTHER’S SISTER performed at the NACMAI (North American Country Music Association, Int’l) Country Music Competition at the Country Tonight Theater in Pigeon Forge, TN and won Vocal Duo and Instrumental Duo of the Year for 2014. Bethany won Female Vocalist and Female Entertainer of the Year while Taylor won Promising Male Entertainer and Promising Male Vocalist of the Year. 2013 also proved to be a very exciting year for the duo. They were the opening act for Emerson Drive at the Rebel on Beale Summer Concert series at Handy Park, finalists in the Texaco Country Showdown for Desoto County, Semi Finalists in the Mid-South Fair Talent Competition, Bethany placed 2nd in the C Factor Competition at the World Deer Expo in Birmingham, Alabama and they won the Desoto County Talent Show. They have performed at the Hard Rock Café on Beale Street and for the past 2 yrs. have performed during the Memphis in May Music Festival raising money for MIFA’s utility assistance program, Plus-1 fundraiser. “We love to play and entertain people.
