The 8 bar award, a short music contest, was held with only one entry requirement "8 bars". The judges included m-flo's *Taku Takahashi, Man With A Mission's DJ Santa Monica, BANVOX, buzzG, and other professionals from various genres, and the event was sponsored by TuneCore Japan, Crypton Future Media, and others in cooperation with Nico Nico Douga, nana, TuneCore Japan, Crypt Future Media and etc. The winning songs were selected from a total of 2,400 entries in four categories by a strict panel of judges. This is a compilation album of short music consisting of only the "winning songs and other excellent songs" in the HipHop and Rap categories.

Included in the album is the 90's old school beat "Super Star/STARR BEATS," which won 3rd place overall. Highway Radio / Ichikawa Sora," which won the overall Grand Prix as well as 1st place in the HipHop and Rap categories. The pop and gimmicky "9% (Back to Zero Ver.)/Strong Wataru". The melancholy beat "BOOM3/Azaraku" shines with its strange looping. The music and up-and-coming artists who may be a part of the music scene in the future are selected!
