JENN LINDSAY'S NEW ALBUM "GOTTA LOTTA" NOW AVAILABLE!! Check out www.cdbaby.com/jennlindsay3 THE STORY OF WHAT WORKS: www.cdbaby.com/jennlindsay2 "Jenn Lindsay is so good. She's absurd." -- Nate Borofsky, 2001 Boston Music Awards Outstanding New Singer/Songwriter Jenn Lindsay is a Brooklyn-based folksinger who was raised by wolves on the moors of England. Okay, really truly, she's from San Diego, but she's still a lot of fun. And her shows, if not wolfish, are certainly energetic, enjoyable and intelligent. Lach from the NYC East Village's Sidewalk Café Anti-folk Scene has recently named her "an exciting newcomer...fun, poignant, and charming...a most welcome addition." Jenn started gigging in Liverppol UK, and moved on to San Francisco where she quickly made a name for herself as an influential and integral artist to the East Bay political scene. She regularly played her original guitar tunes at activist gatherings, Take Back the Night rallies, political art festivals, and local coffeehouses and nightspots. JENN LINDSAY was employed as a musical activist by the Stanford Women's Community Center, the Stanford Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Community Resources Center, and by the Stanford Coalition Against Sexual Assault. JENN LINDSAY writes super-fun super-duper honest lyrics and she tries hard, as a folksinger, to be a spokesperson for political issues, while also striving to write music that can be enjoyed in an apolitical context. Because she doesn't know what she's doing, really, her music retains the inventive and compelling stamp of complete, joyful naïveté. Coupled in turn with a dusty natty wacky straight up folky sense of what she needs to say to make her way, JENN LINDSAY's a hot potato, and happily so. REVIEWS: "Sardonic, intelligent acoustic rock songs." --Mike McHugh, C-Note NYC "A most exciting newcomer...fun, poignant, and charming...a most welcome addition." --www.antifolk.net "edgy, intricate, sometimes strange and controversial and always a showcase for some excellent lyrics" --www.indie-music.com "the beauty and emotion behind these lyrics achieve something that I have never really heard before" --www.globalmuse.com "thought-provoking lyrics, a tremendous voice, and an amazing stage presence that engages everybody in the room...for G-d sakes, SEE HER!!!" "This girl-and-her-guitar is anything but run-of-the-mill, bringing ferocity, passion and fun to what threatens to be a tired act." -The Scene, S.F. "her voice is quite good, and the songs are powerful enough to provoke and inspire, musing on love, womanhood and a potpourri of real world problems - sexual politics, domestic violence, relationship complications, eating disorders and the old standby of unrequited love. Her album closes with "Bells," which begins, "This road is just an album of everywhere we'd go / I'd drive to your street, kill the engine and wait in the cold / When I asked the hard questions an open window stole your worlds / So I watched the rearview mirror, watched your words whine and whir." "a welcome blast of taste and sincerity...She's an inventive guitar stylist whose creative use of harmonics and sliding chords made me shudder with ecstasy. Her strong, clear voice serves her equally well on a ballad about a lost love, a tribute to a deceased friend, or a tender love song. She calls her style "percussive folk," and she means it - lacking the accompaniment of a drummer, she'll slap the soundboard of her guitar, tapping out an intricate rhythm in between furiously strummed chords. Before she began her final song, her E string broke, and she made the best of it; she simply fingerpicked a tune that didn't require it. She's a genial and confident performer and can make the listeners feel as though they know the people she sings about." -Michael Moir, http://nyc.makemusic.org ...
