Being born into a musical family from Dayton, Texas instilled flair unseen by most teenage sisters. As for Flyte Three, made up of Meredith and Claire McNair, their dad played a vital role in their music today. Each of the young ladies grew up listening to an eclectic style of music including Sheryl Crow, Tom Petty and Gordon Lightfoot. These artists, mixed with their personal style, allowed them to bring a smooth, easy listening, but edgy contemporary country sound to music lovers. After each discovered their talent of guitar playing and songwriting, they moved to Nashville to pursue their careers individually. A decision came months later to combine the different styles and add the harmonic bond found between two sisters. The name Flyte Three, in two parts, is derived from a long history in meaning from their family. Beginning with the word flight, it is significant given the family’s aviation background and the young ladies decision to take off on their musical career. Three coincidentally has become the family’s lucky number beginning with their dad. After moving to Nashville the number kept popping up everywhere acting as a good omen. “We embraced the number 3 and it was a constant reminder that our dad was with us every step of the way,” adds Claire. “We were writing our songs with our own individuality, but when we write together it’s three times as good,” explains Meredith. “Since we both love music and it consumes our lives, we wanted to take this journey together and share it with everyone.” This young duo is quickly gaining momentum in their career. Dreaming of impacting others with their melody and lyrics is what drives this young and talented duo.
