Two outstanding folk musicians, Shona Mooney and Andy Watt, team up with the Northern Early Music Collective (Jamie Savan, Jacob Heringman, Susanna Pell), in a programme of charm and wit, at times virtuosic, at times haunting. Traditional folk tunes rub shoulders with early music classics; ground-bass movements give all the performers a chance to improvise; and a new work by young composer Matthew Rowan is also included. An unusual and captivating project.
