Mike & Ally is a Canadian-based acoustic-folk duo that first came together in the winter of 2009. Meeting through mutual friends, Mike Bauche and Allyson James-Loth have united around the purpose of writing and performing music that is both heartfelt and dynamic, hoping to communicate to the listener the wide variety of human experiences that are expressed through their music. Their compilation of songs in their debut album, “The Field & The Sea” (2012) is a product of these experiences, and their passion is to write and play music. Recorded in the den of a 100 year old house over several months and surround by friends, laughter and red wine the album captures the warmth and atmosphere of such an intimate setting. “The Field & The Sea” is a collection of rich songs that features the collaboration of two Saskatchewan musicians Mike Bauche and Allyson James-Loth. The inspiration and passion from this album is derived from life; the sun, the surf, nature, travel, and the everyday ordinary and extraordinary occurrences of life in Canada. Life’s natural course has allowed Mike & Ally to individually explore a wide range of human emotion and draw from their experiences in their songwriting. Their compilation of songs are a product of these experiences, and their passion is to write and play music that will make you think, make you happy, or just plain sound good to your ear. Educated in an assortment of backgrounds but connected through a common enthusiasm for music, Mike & Ally have a “rare musical dynamic that is somehow both tranquil and energetic” (Curtis Anderson).
