Nadav and the Neshama is an inspired project for Sydney-based, Israeli-born musician Nadav Kahn. Embracing a return to his cultural roots and kindling a deep interest in Jewish mysticism, “Lev Shalem” (A Heart at Peace) is a collection of original songs that draw on Hebrew prayers and sacred verses in mantra style arrangements, embodying Nadav’s love of folk, 60’s pop, Jazz, Indian classical and Eastern music traditions. Lev Shalem/A Heart at Peace, is a perfect companion piece for anyone who is drawn to music with an understated yet deep spiritual component. From beginning to end, the album is accessible without being ordinary. There’s an inherent universality to the music, as Nadav is not aiming to guide his listeners to his music, to his words, or to his lyrics – he is guiding them back to themselves. Back to the source of sound itself. The songs are all drawn from ancient Jewish biblical texts including the Torah, the Song of Songs, Psalms and other liturgical texts. The album was was composed by Nadav Kahn with the guidance of Rabbi Dr Triguboff and the Neshama Life organization. It was recorded at Alberts Studio and produced/mixed by Tony Buchen in Sydney, Australia.
