My brother Jacks’ daughter Melissa was getting married on New Year’s Eve. My niece jokingly asked him if he would write a song for their Father/Daughter dance. He told her it wouldn’t be possible and to just pick out a song. What she didn’t know was that he had already contacted me with a wonderful story and together we wrote and recorded “Gotta Let Go.” This was a complete surprise for her, so when they finally reached the dance floor and began dancing to the song she chose, the DJ had “technical difficulties” and the music stopped. As she stood out there with her Dad, he took the microphone and proceeded to tell her and everyone at the reception, that he and her Uncle Tom had in fact written a special song for their Father/Daughter dance, and he dedicated it to her, his “Baby Girl.” There was not a dry eye in the house.
