Liz Yancey, a fast-rising singer/songwriter, actress and teacher recently nominated for Best New Female Artist with the Gospel Choice Awards 2009. She also appeared in an episode of Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns 2010. Liz Yancey has been singing and acting since the age of five yrs old performing in church and community choirs, school plays, Jazz Groups, Praise team, hosting Fashion and talent shows, charity events, Black History Plays, Weddings, funerals, Concert touring choir at Winston Salem State University singing lead to many songs including the Handel Messiah etc.. . She has travel domestically and internationally singing Inspirational music. She chose the piano and the flute to be her instrument of interest at the age of ten years old. Writing and creating music became her passion. She has written songs for Lolita Coby and Ava Cary on their recent projects and she is currently writing material for Major Artist. When Liz was eighteen she sang her first major solo for her graduating class and have been amazing her audiences with her gifts and talents ever since. Her songs and style are inspired by women like Phyllis Hyman, Anita Baker, Regina Bell, Rochelle Farrell, Indie Arie, Jill Scott and Yolanda Adams. Even though Liz has her own versatility of sound, her voice of experience can take you too many styles, like the Opera hall, church hymns, Old school Gospel, The Blues, R&B, Contemporary music to Praise & Worship to Jazz, Liz love for music is her Freedom. She has definitely found her place in the music industry. iz ancey has shared the stage with many. Artist such as Vashawn Mitchell, Kurt Carr, Canton Jones, John Gray, Darlene McCoy, Melba Moore, Wanda Trent-Phillips , Lisa McClendon, John Legend, Terry Cummings and many more. In 1996-97 Liz released three (3) singles in her career which was distributed by a major record Strictly Rhythm and Kult Records located in Manhattan, New York. Liz has a special love for gospel house music which she pursued under the name Ja'Shay which means "Strength". After years of hard work she has completed her first full-length CD entitled "CHANGE". Liz released her new CD June 12, 2010. To add to her many talents Liz serves in her community as a Mentor and Director of an Organization called Better Babies Ministries which for young single mothers and fathers and she also serves as the official psalmist for Clayton County Public School National Prayer Day and she is the official MC for all local county events.
