Harley Sunnes is the composer and lyricist of most of Crystal Axes original music. He had quite a bit of help from Kat Bauer, who is a very knowledgeable and talented musician, singer, and songwriter as well. Dale Damaris, Steve Manges, Wendell Witcher, Amy Woodson and Brent Woodson also contributed to the writing of the Crystal Axe original music. Kent Moore designed the 'Crystal Axe' logo. Around 1988, they released their first musical effort 'Back to Basics' recorded at Catamount Studios in Waterloo, Iowa. their music was sent out to various radio stations and gained the attention of 93.3 KDWZ, now known as 93.3 KLOA-FM out of Des Moines, Iowa. "ALL NIGHT/ALL DAY' and 'SAVE ME FROM YOU' had been introduced to radio listeners. They've also recorded with Carnes Brothers of Elkader, IA and 'Bird- on-Fire' Studios in West Union, IA. In 2010, Kat Bauer, Gary Berns and Harley Sunnes co-produced their latest CD for all their fans and friends called 'Watching the Years'. The CD contains music from past endeavors and music that had never been released. Crystal Axe has performed with 'Rock N' Roll' Hall of Famer Cub Coda, now deceased and formerly of 'Brownsville Station'. They've also headlined or performed with musicians such as Edgar Winter, Rare Earth, actor Tom Arnold and more. While on the road they even jammed with 'Bad Company'. This band has performed for thousands and has many, many stories to tell. Recently, 'Crystal Axe' has been inducted into The Iowa Rock N' Roll Music Associations distinguished 2014 Hall of Fame Class. Truly an honor. 'Crystal Axe' musicians to be inducted will be 'Kat Bauer' Keyboard player, Lead Vocals and Song Writer, 'Gary Berns' Production Assistant, 'Dale Damaris' Bass Player, Lead Vocals, Song Writer, 'Steve Manges' Bass Player, Lead Vocals, Lighting and Soundman, 'Kent Moore' Guitarist, Logo Artist, 'Brent Woodson' Drums and Lead Vocals and last 'Harley Sunnes' band Leader, Drums, Lead Guitar, Vocals and Song Writer.
