Today we introduce: CHERNOBYL from Porto Allegre, Brazil - whose collaboration with Praga was already featured on the EXPLOITED-Compilation. Since 1995 Dj Chernobyl has had a profound effect on the direction of Brazil's music scene. He is a pioneer and responsible for bringing Baile Funk (brazilian booty beat) to the world of rock through his band "Comunidade Nin-Jitsu", influencing Edu K to produce his world famous hit "Popozuda". Chernobyl discovered and signed Bonde do Role, produced their album, introduced them to Diplo (who released them on his Mad Decent label) and has produced 8 of the 12 tracks on their album ‘With Lasers‘, out on Domino Records. As a DJ he subverts whatever style of music he plays, from electro, miami bass, 80s, Brazilian old school baile funk, Baltimore Club, Afro, Kuduro, or Rock n Roll, bending it all to his NEO BAILE FUNK style. In 2009 he met Portuguese producers Pedro and Beat Laden from BATIDA who introduced him to PRAGA from Cabo Verde. Chernobyl started editing Baile Funk beats for Praga and made a new Baile Funk vibe mixing his beatbox with Brazilian beats, adding crazy synths and Baile Funk horns to it. BALANCA has a new balance as this sound mixes afro-portugese raps, American hip hop -melodies, Brazilian beats, European electro noises and ragga snares. EMPINA A PIPA features rapper Cabal from Sao Paulo whose track "Senorita" is the biggest Hip Hop-hit in Brazil. For the very first time in history a guy from the Hiphop-world of Sao Paulo collaborated on a Baile Funk track. Normally people from the Hip Hop-game in Sao Paulo dont respect Baile Funk from Rio de Janeiro. Chernobyl brought Cabal - the most famous rapper from Sao Paolo - together with MC Gi - who is the biggest Baile Funk MC from Santos, a beach near Sao Paulo - to tear down the walls. Watch out for the video from Leandro HBL (director of FAVELA ON BLAST). These 2 tracks come in a very colourfull package with remixes from all over the place. Its a global affair with global beats: Whether thats SAMIM from Berlin who heated things up 2 years ago with his hit HEATER on GET PHYSICAL, or RENAISSANCE MAN from Helsinki who are the new Blog darlings and one of the hottest remixers at the moment, or long time friend EDU K from Porto Allegre who kind of proves that he's the man with the billion producer style faces who delivered a Minimal Techno meets Forro interpretation in the sense of his latest Anabetic release. Or the pure Brazilian tropical style Axé, from Bahia by Rio de Janeiro's hot new talent JOÃO BRASIL who represents the digital folklore of Brazil's Amazon area - also known as Techno brega. Or Daniel Dexters aka DEX (one half of duo Malente&Dex) primetime Cut-up Bavaria/Berlin Bounce style. Not to forget TOY SELECTAH from Mexico who has been championing a new-school take on classic CUMBIA COLOMBIANA - rhythms that have been on blast in Latin America for decades, but in Toy's remixstyle have perked up ears on both sides of the equator.
