简介

Go Green by Singin’ Green. Everyone can do something, if even in tiny worm-like ways. What happens when some earthworms, an arctic tern, some rockin' humans and a moose get together to figure out how to help the planet? Singin’ Green - the CD. Earthworm bandleader is veteran children’s singer-songwriter Mark Beckwith. Growing up in the California redwoods as the son of a forest ranger cultivated Mark’s bond with nature, which he expresses through his music. Even though protecting the environment is a life-long passion, Mark researched the subject of conservation for over a year before writing the songs for Singin’ Green. He was told by experts the most effective thing we can do is to reduce the amount of valuable resources we waste, which was the motivation behind the song “Reduce Like a Moose”. Mark’s sister (who is a director of a nature center – go figure) told Mark how arctic terns fly from the South Pole to the North Pole and back every year! So that inspired Mark to write “The Alaskan Shore”, in which a tern, upon his 31st annual migration, notices that the ice is melting. Mark’s favorite color really is green, so it was easy as sunshine for him to write “My Favorite Color is Green” about Spring and photosynthesis (not about money). The album’s variety of musical styles represents the variety of people in the world who all need to work together to make a greener planet. Mark’s creative inspirations came from his blind, accordion-playing mom. When Mark was 6 years old, she loaned him her reel-to-reel tape player—which at that time was used by the blind to read books. When Mark’s mom wasn’t “reading” Mark was recording songs, shows and goofiness. Mark has since fashioned a successful children’s entertainment career out of his love of recording songs and goofiness. In addition to providing songs for the Jump-Start educational software, which sold tens-of-millions of copies worldwide, he has been awarded for his children’s albums by The Family Channel, “Kids First” and U.S.A. Today. Since 1999, he and the Earthworms – Tuba Heatherton, William Barrett and Obediah Thomas – have performed their original shows such as “All That Trash” and “H2O, Where Did You Go?” live to over a half million kids. Children 4-10 and adults will enjoy Singin’ Green while going green.
