Written, performed, recorded, produced and mixed by jd As is often the case, I grew up listening to Paul Simon and the Beatles, among other favorites of my dad's. I learned that songs could go anywhere, be anything- take the bridge of "American Tune", for example. I grew to appreciate how diverse, inventive, playful, and downright experimental songs could be while still fitting into the broad category of "popular music." I still marvel that "Helter Skelter" and "I Will" live on the same album. Nilsson's "Coconut," has one chord, but manages to be so interesting. In a weird way, my songs seem to inform me which "rules" may or may not apply as I go along. It is always an adventure.
