Story So Far.... Shawn Lidster is a singer/songwriter from Newfoundland, Canada, who now calls Australia home. He first came to Australia in 1997 by invitation from Tasmanian band Pale Riders, who he met in Vancouver, Canada. Within a year he met his wife to be Rebecca, won a song competition on Sydney's Radio Station Triple M, when Sammy Hagar from Van Halen picked Shawn’s song as the winner .He also was the opening act for the Pale Riders when they toured with Midnight Oil on the 1999 Redneck Wonderland Tour. Shawn has had songs he has written performed for the Prime Minister of Canada, Premier of Newfoundland, Prince Charles and even had a song played on CBC Television during Hockey Night in Canada. Since moving his family back to the Central Coast in 2009, Shawn has already made his mark on the music scene. He has showcased his original songs at various gigs including 2010/2013 Country Music Festival in Tamworth on the Toyota Hilux Stage, 2010-2013 Country Music Festival at The Entrance, Lizottes in Kincumber and Newcastle, playing live on air in the Fishbowl with Scott Levi on ABC Radio as well as Live performances on Indie Showcase Radio. Shawn has become a fan favorite at Bill Chambers Songwriting nights at Quattro’s, in Erina, always performing a new song he has just written. Shawn was a finalist at the 2010 and 2011 Annual Acoustic Awards at Erina Fair, NSW. He has been ranked in the top10 under the Folk/Roots Music section on Reverbnation for his region for over 2 years and is currently ranked #4. Shawn works fulltime as a solo Artist or in a Duo called Pay the Fiddler) gigging from Sydney, the Central Coast, through the Hunter Valley to Newcastle. His latest Cd, “The Burning”, was recorded at Bill Chambers Studio and nominated for Country Album by MUSICNL. Going back to his roots, “The Burning”, takes you on an emotional journey with 11 original songs written about Family, the Past, the Present and the Future. It’s Acoustic/Roots/Folk/Alt Country/Gospel and Blues all combined to showcase Shawn’s ability to express his feelings in different styles of music that he has grown up on and is influenced by. The Cd has some outstanding performances by Bill Chambers and Michael Muchow on many different instruments. Tracks The Burning, Someday, Angel Comfort Me and Just a Number have been played on many stations in Newfoundland and here in Australia namely Today’s Country 94.1. Shawn is recording new Cd at Bill Chambers Studio and will release new songs in late 2013. Background Shawn has shared the stage with national and international performers and his skill as a songwriter is Legend. As a matter of fact, in 2006 Shawn released a CD, entitled Legends of the Baccalieu Trail that was nominated for Folk/Roots Album of the year by MUSICNL. It brings to life the history and characters of the Baccalieu Trail region. Cupers Cove the first track was the unofficial theme song for Cupids 400 celebrations. All of the songs on this Cd are currently receiving airtime on many radio stations in Newfoundland and throughout Canada. Two songs, The Sealers Song and Newfoundland Summers Day were recorded for the Homebrew 4 and Homebrew 5 CD collections and are fan favorites’.
