This instrumental groove music is reminiscent of the AM/FM radio of the 70s and 80s when electronic drums, keyboard synthesizers, multitrack recorders (4, 6,7,8, 16, 24 tracks), drum machines, and sequencers first came on the market. It was a new, fun and exciting time. This is the type of music we were creating back then in basements, attics, warehouses and other different locations. We would record and mix down to cassette tape and test the new music on car stereo systems, home stereo systems, boom-boxes and walk-mans. The reason why there were no lyrics was because we were working with the sound itself and experimenting with sound. A lot of the recordings sounded so good as they were that we would put the tracks out as we had recorded them and people liked them a lot. So MJ's groove instrumentals of today are reminiscent of the music of that era but with a modern and up-to-date feel.
